Teacher Support Summit

Registration is now open for the 2026 teacher support summit. Please read about the day below, and use the form at the bottom of the page to register.

A Focus on Support: Grief and Trauma Informed Care in Schools

Please join The Wendt Center for Loss and Healing’s Resilient Scholars Team for a day focused on school staff support and preparation for the school year, with a focus on grief and trauma informed practices in support of students and staff.

Friday, October 30th, 2026

8:30am-4:00pm, lunch provided

The Wendt Center Office

4201 Connecticut Ave NW, Suite 300

Washington, DC 20008

The Teacher summit is free for teachers at any 2025/2026 partners as well as any 2026/2027 partners.

The day long summit will offer three supportive school-based components:

  1. Grief and Trauma Informed Classrooms: An expanded version of our Grief and Trauma Informed Classrooms curriculum, a workshop that will inform staff, through a developmental lens, how grief and trauma manifest and impact engagement and learning. Specific strategies for establishing grief and trauma supportive classrooms will be provided along with tools for supporting students, in the classroom, who are impacted by grief/trauma.
  2. Creativity & Collaboration Space: A dedicated space for school staff to engage in community with one another and Resilient Scholars clinicians to reflect on the information and strategies discussed in the grief and trauma informed classrooms. Materials will be provided for staff to embrace their creativity and create materials to support the unique needs of their students and classrooms. Participants will take these materials with them in support of the upcoming school year.
  3. Teacher Wellness: Our summit will conclude with a space wholly reserved for discussion of teacher wellness and support. This final session will engage teachers with reflections on personal activation in and out of the classroom, challenges encountered and exploration of ways to support ourselves and one another.

You can register below. Please be aware that registration opens first for 2026-2027 partners, and beginning September 1 all 2025-2026 partners will be able to register for remaining slots.
